  • successfully negotiated better pay for the same project; grown in self-belief & defined their personal values and what success means to them; expanded their network of industry contacts leading to more paid work and support.

  • built creative partnerships with arts organisations and venues; successfully communicated access needs to project partners as a neurodiverse artist; completed a long-standing creative project which had been mired in procrastination; launched a new course with a partner theatre venue.

MY COACHING VALUES & TRAINING

INTUITION

The outside world can sometimes shout loud about all the things we ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ do or be in our lives & careers.

I’m an ICF affiliated, qualified coach, and I use proven coaching techniques to facilitate you to tune in to your own voice, wisdom, & intuition.

FREEDOM

As a coach, I don’t give advice or tell you what to do. My role is to support you as your self-belief & confidence grow, to make the decisions that feel right to you.

Many of us come to coaching with unhelpful beliefs or rules we’ve picked up along the way. If you have beliefs you want to be free of, I’ll support you to make your own rules.

TRANSFORMATION

Many people come to coaching because they are looking to make change in their life.

Depending on your aims, I offer gentle support through kind accountability, perspective-taking, & optional self-coaching resources between sessions, to support you to arrive at the change/s you wish.

CREATIVEs deserve career support

You know you are great at what you do, and sometimes you even believe it too. You are passionate about your creative work, it brings joy and meaning to your life and others’, maybe it even feels like what you were put here to do … and yet, being an artist is Hard work with a capital ‘H’.

Writing applications, rejection letters, long days, late nights, unpaid meetings, and little support; it can all take a toll. Maybe you find yourself saying ‘yes’ to everything, overextending and running on fumes whilst battling self-doubt.

There can be other other ways. You can create other ways.

What if you developed long-term, deep-rooted self-belief? What if you knew exactly why you do what you do, what you say ‘no’ to, and how to resource yourself for a long and sustainable career? What if you defined success on your own terms, and created a career, and a life, that nourishes your wellbeing now?

Who gets the subsidised rate?

The subsidised programme is for practising artists and culture professionals who are not in receipt of funding that can be used for professional development.

To be eligible you must:

  • Have been working as an artist or a culture professional for at least 2 years.

  • Have a clear intention for what you want to achieve in the coaching programme.

  • Not currently be in receipt of funding that can be used for professional development OR face financial barriers to accessing professional coaching.

Why am I offering this subsidised programme?

For two reasons:

  1. As an artist myself, I know how limited the opportunities and support are for mid-career and experienced artists. The progression from ‘emerging’ artist to established artist can be challenging and typically there is limited support available. Career progression as an artist can look very different from person to person, and artists will face numerous setbacks, obstacles, well-meaning advice, competition, and a great many rejection letters.

I am offering this coaching programme to culture professionals who have been practising for at least 2 years, because I feel practising artists deserve access to career support expertise, and shouldn’t have to face a challenging professional environment alone.

  2. I am a recently qualified coach, currently building my coaching hours and portfolio, which will enable me to apply to Coaching Agency and Employee Assistance roles. The Empowered Artist Programme allows me to support other artists whilst building my coaching portfolio and improving my coaching CV.

Will ‘Empowered Artist’ run again?

No. At least not in the same way.

I likely won’t be able to offer the programme in the same way again in future. However, I am committed to supporting artists, and I hope to be able to continue to offer subsidised coaching to at least 1 artist every year.

How to Apply?

Fill in this very short application form, and I’ll be in touch soon.

We can talk through what you are looking for. I’ll only make a recommendation if I think coaching would be useful.
